College Recruiting Presentation

  • August 24, 2016

This message applies only to juniors and seniors:

If any of you are considering competing in track and field/cross country at the college level, there is a great opportunity to learn about the recruiting process on Saturday, August 27th.

Jake Malm graduated from RR in 2009 and went on to compete for the University of Minnesota. He is now coaching at the University of Dubuque (where 2016 graduate Mo Kamara will attend school). Coach Malm and Coach Bakke will give a presentation on the college recruiting process for high school athletes. This session will cover college recruiting in general, as well as cover the differences between NCAA DI, DII, and DIII, NAIA, and NJCAA athletics. The session will be welcome to athletes, as well as their parents (as they are usually the ones who have the most questions). We have found that athletes and parents generally have little or inaccurate knowledge about college recruiting, scholarships, official visits, etc. This session will hopefully answer some questions and help you in this process.

**Juniors: You may not be thinking about college just yet, but if you think you might have any interest in college athletics, it would be good to find out some things you can start doing already to put yourself in the best position to be recruited.

Time: 10:00 AM on Saturday morning

Location: Rider Room at RRHS

Please send Coach Bakke a message on Remind if you and/or your parent(s) would like to attend. If you are NOT able to attend, but still have an interest in college track and field/cross country, let Coach Bakke know.
